Hilarious, and worth every penny
I caught this twice on TV and both times was laughing so hard it hurt. I just had to buy it so I could show it to more people. We must watch it at home at least a couple times a month now, and show it to everyone we can. Gaffigan is a genius in this: he is so funny, discusses so many common themes for his jokes (laziness, eating) with only a couple insinuating jokes that might be innappropriate, otherwise very clean-cut and not filled with bad language like so many other comedians. I am so glad I bought this, it has been so worth it and gotten so much time from my DVD player. We are always quoting from this, just so much of it is so true! You will love it and not be sad you spent the small price to buy it. There are some cute special features too, but the routine is the best part.

Jim Gaffigan is one of the best comedians I’ve seen in a long time. His jokes are great and fun for the whole family.
Jim Gaffigan manages to entertain and produce good quality comedy without resorting to sex jokes and dirty language. That’s not to say crude humor can’t tickle my funny bone just as well, but it’s refreshing to listen to Jim Gaffigan’s routine and not worry about offending the folks. =)
The bonus features on this DVD are sub-par, but the actual stand-up is great and well-worth the money. I highly reccomend this to all comedy fans, young and old.
HOOOOOOT Pocket!!
This guy is the best comedian I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen ‘em all. I drove out to Pittsburgh and listened to his CD for 10 straight hours, then bought the DVD the day I got back and watched it 3 times that week. I just can’t get enough. My friends and I are still quoting him non-stop, 2 months later. His ‘inner voice’ is priceless! I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to laugh, I’ve been recommending it to all of my friends as well.

I watched this series before reading a single review on it. The first thing I plan of when I saw it was, “this is like a better consuming version of Voltron!” Determined enough, I behold many references to Voltron Voltron – Defender of the Universe – Collection One: Blue Lion and also Neon Genesis Evangelion Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Collection.
In fairness, younger generations of mech anime fans will likely not be familiar with Voltron, but they probably will be familiar with Evangelion. And let’s face it, it’s younger generations who are normally drawn to these types of Anime.

The Bad
Yes it’s fair, this narrative isn’t terribly novel. Yet let’s be stunning here, the theme of post-apocalyptic survival is very well-liked. Some immense anime was created based on a popular formula. Did people not gape Independence Day simply because the War of The Wolds already covered the theme of aliens attacking the planet earth? No, they were two separate works that dealt with a well-liked theme for two different generations and in two different ways. I judge the same can be said about Aquarion versus Evangelion and Voltron.
While this isn’t mammoth, I can gape past the predictable yarn lines and indulge in this as entertainment alone.
The merging sequences have some very campy erotic overtones. Since brother and sister are often in the merged groupings, this was perhaps not well belief out. Not to mention, it takes 3 people to manufacture a merge, another unintended message?
Will the human hurry survive? I’m definite if we want the respond to that we will have to assume all the parts to this series.
The Good
Visually the animation was really elegant to me. I couldn’t serve but wonder how distinguished better Voltron might have been if the CG and animation effects available today were traditional in its creation. In fact, the images of the mechanical flying machines fighting and merging during fight sequences come 3D and HD clarity. While I was less blown away by the genuine human characters, overall the animation and effects are top notch.
The other thing I really liked about this place was the volume of episodes included in this modestly priced location. Too often these anime series are priced similarly for 4-6 episodes. Here you catch 13. I don’t know why but these seemed to rush longer than the listed 26 minutes to me. So in that sense this was a very helpful value. And let’s face it, in general existing fans are going to be the ones buying these sets.
The included box that holds the first three volumes in this station is nicely captivating too. But as usual, I was slightly envious to search for the art on the Japanese versions was more racy. The front image on this box impartial doesn’t do the artwork justice.
Conversely, the included pencil mat has awesome art that probably would have made a nicer cloak. This is a wintry extra that you rarely win with Anime series.
Conclusion
If you like anime and cartoons like Voltron and Transformers, this is a nice series that is appealing and well place together. If you’re looking for more faded, refined and fresh anime, there are many other options for you besides this.

Created by Shoji Kawamori who was unhurried such classic anime series as Macross, Escaflowne, “Aquarion” has a provocative premise and is moving but borrows signficantly from other Anime shows including Kawamori’s beget previous creations.
When the Huge Catastrophoe treatens to engulf the remains of Earth’s population a run called the Shadow Angels awaken and retract off the remains of humanity. Our only defense are a group of humans who wing mecha (Vectors) called the Elementals. The discovery of Apollo a young man living in isolation who manages to consume one of the Vectors when a pilot is injured to fight off the cross human hungry Shadow Angels gives hope to the Elementals. They possess he might be savior they’ve been foretold about a reincarnation of the Solar Soar who will encourage bring their struggle to an raze and victory.
The series lacks the spark, depth and creativity of Kawamori other series and while the note is nice to peruse at with often visual splendid designs, the stories and characterizations are often lacking in depth and detail. The main characters are lovely shallow without noteworthy development which I found a bit disappointing as well. The first two discs were more a chore to sit through than a join while the third disc hinted at some potential by develing into what happened 12,000 years ago that forced the Shadow Angels into hibernation.
What saves “Aquarion” from the junk heap of derivative Anime is the beautifully rendered backgrounds and character designs. By the third disc of this series (it runs 26 episodes and half of those episodes are available on this the first spot of the reveal) “Aquarion” perks up and Animae fans may score honest enough meat to preserve them keen in gobbling up this series.
The explain itself looks helpful with shining, plucky colors that postiviely pop. Audio is extremely active as well with a nice employ of the surround speakers particularly during action scenes. Presented in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio it looks quite nice on widescreen TV sets without the murky bars being too big if you want to examine it on a standard situation that has a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. I should heed that the first residence I was sent wouldn’t play in any of my players. The shows would originate but the images would posthaste dissolve into pixels going through fits and starts throughout the episode and randomly skipping around. Luckily, I was able to gain a alternate first disc that didn’t have constant pixelation and quandary up my DVD player.
The extras are all located on the third disc of the location. We pick up a brief interview (about 5 minutes) with creator Kawamori, a 20 puny Q&A session from the Toyko Anime Aesthetic where Kawamori and the exclaim talent discuss the series and four short featurettes that focus on the themes of the series. Finally FUNmation includes a wintry looking pencil board within the case that your kids will be pleased almost as mighty as the series itself (when you aren’t explaining it to them) .
Overall, “Aquarion” was initially disappointing to me. While the premise was solid it wasn’t as well developed as I had hoped relying on cliches of the genre and elements of other Kawamori created series to carry the first two discs. By the third disc, however, things perked up because we got to interrogate the past of the world we were thrown into in the very first episode. Personally, I’d like to contemplate this developed further but I am unsure of how far this has been taken because I haven’t seen the last 13 episodes of the first season.

“Thanks a lot, you stupid hotel manager!” (4.5 stars)
Christopher Guest’s “Best in Show” is a wildly hilarious satire that pokes fun at people who are overly obsessed with their pets. So obsessed that they would take their pets and put them in a type of “beauty pageant” in order to get awards and recognition. It’s funny and unrelenting because you see it as an everyday occurrence in society. People like this really do exist, and that is why it’s so humorous. The characters are all out of their minds and are a joy to watch in this very entertaining and unpredictable film.
I had no idea what I was going to experience when I popped this into the DVD player. At first, it didn’t seem like anything that would interest me. However, almost every single person I know had seen it and encouraged me to watch it. I’m glad I did give it a chance, because I ended up really liking it. The satire is outrageous and subtle at the same time (something that’s VERY difficult to accomplish unless the project is in the right hands). The actors are hilarious and very animated, but at the same time you know that these types of people really do exist! Eugene Levy was my favorite person in the film. He’s so subtle and clever when it comes to humor. Overall, everybody was fantastic in their roles.
The DVD has some really cool extras. It has very good picture and sound quality. Extras included are deleted scenes, feature length audio commentary by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy, theatrical trailer and more. The deleted scenes are pretty interesting to watch. Tons of special features for those who love the extra “bells and whistles.”
“Best in Show” is great satirical comedy in top form. Not a wasted second is present in the movie. If you’re looking for something a little less ordinary, this may be the choice for you. Christopher Guest has done an excellent job of orchestrating this very entertaining and clever film that gives us 90 minutes of fun and laughs.
I Give It 5 Dog Biscuits!!
I don’t even remember if this movie made it to the theaters in my town. This is the kind of small gem that slips past critics and moviegoers and either finds an audience in the video market, or passes away into obscurity. Those viewers who enjoyed the improvisational comedy of Christopher Guest’s previous efforts (This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting For Guffman) will love Best In Show. It features a wonderful cast that includes Michael McKean and John Michael Higgins, the flambouyantly gay owners of a prize winning shih tzu, a yuppie couple (Parker Posey and Michael Hitchcock) whose Weimaraner is as neurotic as they are, Christopher Guest as the proud owner of a Bloodhound named Hubert who also fancies himself a ventriloquist, and Catherine O’Hara as a former nympho who keeps running into old boyfriends (she’s had hundreds of them), much to the chagrin of geeky husband Eugene Levy. They are all competing for Best In Show at the prestigious Mayflower Kennel Club dog show. Their ridiculous and outrageous behavior is captured in a documentary style. Fred Willard chews the scenery hilariously as a commentator who seems to know nothing about dogs or anything else for that matter. Don’t let this one pass you by, it’s well worth the price. The DVD also comes with some very funny deleted scenes and a commentary by Guest and Levy.

This was a funny, funny movie, to say the least. I’ve never seen “Waiting for Guffman”, but “Spinal Tap” still makes me laugh to this day. My main attraction to this movie was Fred Willard(known lately for his hilarious “conversations” with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show). This man does wonders when it comes to improv, and this movie just displays that so well.
The film polks fun at Dog Shows(one event in which it’s participants take itself WAAAAAAAAAY too serious). This is best displayed when Fred Willard, playing a commentator for the show, asks his partner if he could guess how much Fred benched in his prime. Also to mention his hilarious anecdote for dressing up a bloodhound in a Sherlock Holmes uniform, in order to “get the crowd pumped”.
I liked this movie, and anyone a fan of mellow humor, rather than gross-out humor(Farrely Bros, etc.) should check this out. It’s more of a comedy for people in their 30′s and up, but I’m 15, and got a tremendous kick out of it. I won’t touch down on the characters, because I’m sure you’ve read plenty on that already. But, if your in the mood for one hell of a comedy, or just a plain old Fred Willard fan like myself, this is definitely worth a view.

There was nothing like sitting with my children, and now with my grandchildren, and watching them become enraptured by the wonders of what I reflect to be collectively “one” of the ten best films ever made. Yes, in terms of overall quality, the Anne of Green Gables Trilogy ranks up there with Ben Hur, Dances With Wolves, The Sound of Music, and the other classics. In fact, even at 69 years musty, whenever I feel as if I need some inspiration, or I feel others I savor do as well, into the DVD player goes Anne! As others have attested, one will never feel embarrassed by watching or having others gawk these unbelievable, wholly inspirational films.
I watched these on VHS with my family years ago. Serve then my daughter, about ten or so, same age as Anne when we first watch her, was reading the novels; renting the videos was a natural thing. I was reluctant to leer the first story–my tastes tend more toward gritty crime and action stuff–but I watched them with my wife, daughter, and 8-yr. former son. It did not purchase me long to earn caught up in the involving narrative. Canadian actress Megan Follows with her flaming red hair, which she is initially so ashamed of, is absolutely perfect as Anne Shirley. I would say she was born to play that role. All of the characters and portrayals are so unbelievable that you will be thoroughly entertained. The leisurely and indescribably titanic Richard Farnsworth is his typical camouflage self: stoic, level-headed, restrained, disturbed, unprejudiced, fun-loving, humble, self-sacrificing, hard-working, strong, conventional. And gents: isn’t that a list of very admirable traits? What man would not want to be remembered in such a contrivance? So there you have one reason why you, as a man and father, should behold this series: if you pattern yourself after Mr. Farnsworth in this film, you will be on the moral track. I absolutely defy anyone, even the most macho guy in the world, to not gush with tears upon viewing the scene where Farnworth’s character buys, and then presents the heavenly party dress to Anne.

Another reason to gaze this: you and your children will be seeing a solid and dignified life being build together before your eyes. Anne is an knowing girl, but she understands the value of hard work. She loves to have fun, can be a bit contrary and capricious, but when the job needs to be done, she will do whatever it takes. She is an orphan who, through sheer determination and hard work, overcomes her meagre beginnings to really invent a name for herself in the world. She is delighted, and she takes life as it comes. Most importantly, she has a helpful heart and high fair standards. What parent would not want their child to be so described?
While it is very fair that nowadays it is difficult to gather edifying “family” viewing, if you perceive around, you will gather it. Initiate here, dads; hold this residence for your family and most importantly, exhaust some quality time with them watching the place. This is one of the best things you could do for them.

I guarantee it: you will laugh, you will wail, you will be troubled, you will exult. You will experience every emotion life has to offer. There are no cardboard cutout characters here; no one is perfect. That’s another reason to watch: it’s like life, and through meeting these living and breathing characters with all of their frailties and foibles, your kids will glean a taste, albeit a vicarious one, of what the world is like. Perhaps they will commence to understand that life is not quite dazzling, that you have to work blooming hard, that people can be unkind even when you are kind to them, and most notable, to be yourself. Anne the unkempt orphan comes into the life of the dour conventional spinster and her hard-working farmer brother, and gradually over time she becomes their savior. She saves them from a life of monotony, self-involvement and predictability; she teaches them how to be patient, how to laugh, how to prioritize. Isn’t that what children do for their parents, if the parents will let them?
Anne is a girl who becomes a truly successful adult, if you measure success by how ecstatic, brilliant, self-assured, confident, caring and fulfilled she is. If your kids can assume up some of those traits by watching the series, and you can befriend them, how can you go heinous?

WOW! A RAMBO Special Edition boxed set!
Well, when the Rambo movies were re-released on VHS a few years ago in all new packaging and in widescreen for the first time, I jumped on that set when I found it. But now that I got a DVD player I have been wanting to get these movies on DVD. Now there’s been a Collector’s set available for some time using the same prints that were released on VHS. They were also, I noticed, only in Dolby 2.0 and from what I have read the picture quality wasn’t very good. I was even going to buy that set because it had a great price, but ironically I waited. I then went back to check out the Amazon link and found that it was no longer available directly from Amazon and I was like, “What?” Well now I know. This new Special Edition is going to rock! Hopefully. 
Remastered in both Dolby 5.1 and DTS, the Rambo movies should sound the best ever. With an additional disc to the 3 movie set that is loaded with mucho extras that it will keep you busy for quite a while featuring many new documentaries that tie in the events of the movies with today’s post-9/11 world with a documentary on Afghanistan. This should be the Ultimate Rambo DVD collection. And with rumors that Stallone is working on a new script for a Rambo IV that takes him back to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, it should be interesting and nostalgic to watch these movies again.
And if the Rambo movies come across as patriotic propaganda now, so what? Get over it. Why one would feel shame for having strong feelings for one’s country is beyond me. Besides, I’m anxiously awaiting to hear that Rambo theme in 5.1 Surround.
Rambo + Action = Good times had by all!
I’m going right for the meat and potatoes on this one.
Ok, you’ve got the Rambo movies all in one case, and I’m not saying they stuck three movies in one box, they have all the movies cased in a book format.
Then, for you pickers and choosers, they have all the Rambos in widescreen and full screen editions (I prefer widescreen though). But don’t be fooled at the beginning of the full screen version, it just starts out in widescreen until the credits are finished and then it becomes full screen.
And, the box set contains a fourth disk that you CANNOT get anywhere but in this set. It contains more facts and featurettes about Rambo and what made it so great (and it has a play all feature for the people that don’t want to go back and fourth through all of the featurettes). It also contains a neat little trvia game and sneak peeks at other DVDs.
In closing, people that love Rambo need this, and for the people that just love things blowing up…you need this as well. This is the essential Rambo collection, and it can also be called inexpensive action, because you have all of the Rambos and a special fourth DVD just for this set all packaged in a book format and a very sleek tin. Get this set you action freeks and Rambo-maniacs before Rambo hunts you down and makes you buy it!

Let me confess that in the whole period of DVD production, I’ve never seen such a brilliant, Spectacular & really Collector’s edition (not only special edition) DVD set! It’s beautiful and very well designed and produced with high quality material!
It consists of a Collectable real metal outer case, Spectacular metallic and glassy inner case, booklet, and 4 DVDs. but there are two complain, movies are double sided. Widescreen sides are Dual layer with DTS soundtrack. Full screen sides are single layers without DTS soundtrack. it means that if you deceide to watch a movie in full screen, you’ll unable to use DTS which is soppose to be one of the most important features of this DVD set.
second complain is about the sound remasteration. in two of them, all of the sounds and speeches go through only one of five speakers! it’s a real problem and it really botters when it shows 5.1 DD or DTS in audio menu but the real soundtrack is mono. it’ll be good if the studio schedule a program to replace the defective DVDs!
I heart of a new release of RAMBO TRILOGY, I’ve not seen it yet but descriptions indicate that’s an ordinary DVD collection. the sound quality will be difinately better than this one but about other features, I can’t Discuss yet. better of this one or not, I can say it with courage, no DVD collection will be complete whitout the RAMBO TRILOGY SPECIAL EDITION!

It was abominable enough that the writers decided to produce Kira, Athrun, Lacus, Cagalli and the Archangel the Enlightened Saviors of the war loving world again. In turn resulting in Shinn, Lunamaria and the Minerva becoming the abominable mis-informed awful guys. However, since this change occured so slow in the series it’s like the creators didn’t know what to do so they stretch out what runt of a site they have left. Plus the flashback montages hold on coming.

The first episode picks up with Shinn and Rey double teaming Kira. Kira basically dodges their attacks and occasionally gets a hit in. Shinn eventually is stopped in his tracks by the allege of Athrun in the Infinite Justice Gundam. Athrun makes him ask what he is doing and we glean a long montage of conventional clips, why?! Considering Shinn has shown nothing but contempt for Orb and all those associated with it up until now you’d assume he’d have no reservations about attacking it. He should’ve responeded with something like, “This country’s ideals got my family killed and since then it’s only shown how evil it’s become by providing sanctuary to someone like Djirbil. This country will burn!” If they want Shinn to be the dreadful guy, antagonist the writers should’ve gone all out and made him firm, acting on his fill vendetta. Instead he’s nothing but an unquestioning, totally trustworthy slave to Durandal who if he hears any contradicting words to his orders is lost and unable to do anything. That is until he hears reassuring words from Rey to spot him assist on course. This is exactly what happens after Shinn hears Athrun’s words and simply says, “Shut up, you’re nothing but a damn traitor,” like he’s totally brainwashed. Athrun goes into Seed mode for the first time in Destiny which was plan to freakin gradual. All he does to top that off is raze Shinn’s sword and the two unprejudiced peek at each other. Why couldn’t Athrun at least continue to disable the Destiny Gundam to prevent Shinn from doing more damage? Better yet why couldn’t Shinn simply answer with another attack chunky force after taking a hit like he did with Kira in the previous episode? Kira all the while is fighting Rey who he can handle one on one since the Tale Gundam is basically the Providence Gundam with a different paint job. Then Shinn and Rey recieve orders to retreat and the fight is over, yawn! Really if Athrun wanted to convert Shinn he should’ve gone after Rey who kept putting words in Shinn’s ear. Then Shinn could objective maintain figting Kira who he had no reservations about fighting at all, unlike Athrun who he calm cares for a runt.
The first episode could’ve been really splendid but it harm up being the biggest let down in the series so far. Shinn, Rey and the Minerva are the trump card for ZAFT and Kira, Athrun and the Archangel are the trump card for Orb. If either falls the side they’re on looses. However since there are no other major players in the fable now with Sting, Auel and Stella humdrum the writers couldn’t figure out what to do to maintain the episodes so they have the two factions fight each other with no accurate conclusion, victor. They got to do that so they can have a station, fight for the demolish of the series. Too awful they couldn’t introduce current ace pilots from the Earth Forces to fight both Orb and ZAFT or even introduce fresh Orb Aces honest to fight ZAFT. Anyway off my soap box now.

The next episode is a transition one. The problem of two Lacus’s is revealed to the world. Lacus with Cagalli at her side tells the world not to trust Durandal. Well even though she knows about the Destiny Conception unless she presents her evidence to the world they have no reason not to trust Durandal. Especially since their bloodlust is collected heavily aimed at Logos. Meanwhile Djibril who escaped from Orb fires the mass destruction weapon Requiem at the Plants, killing masses of Coordinators. ZAFT is naturally ready to kick some major butt. What do Kira, Athrun, Lacus and the rest do? Exertion about Durandal and his Destiny View. Yes Durandal is planning to place a dictatorship through scheming, but compared to Djibril he’s a saint. Oh yeah and lots of Coordinators objective died and they don’t seem to concerned about that at all! You’d assume Athrun who’s been pining over everything else up to now would at least be riled up. We learn in detail what the Destiny Conception itself is and I got to say it’s over the top. I guess they have to maintain Durandal the villian somehow. I didn’t inquire of great from this episode, but it was collected spiteful.
We net a major battle on the moon in the next episode. Is it any satisfactory? Noooo!!! Shinn and Rey basically fair hold out the same mobile armors and shriek suits all over again. A lot of it was recycled footage from the battle at Heavens Detestable with outer region inserted in the background since they’re on the moon. I have purchased this DVD and also Volume 10 when they were avaiable. Both have defects .At first I opinion it was a plight with my DVD player with volume 10.But when I tried to play volume 11 I found out it is not the plight of the DVD player but the DVD itself.I have seven DVD player at home which I bought at different time because I know some outmoded DVD player may not be able to play the latest DVD.This volume 11 has dilemma with episode 45.All the DVD player could not play this segment including my PC.So potential buyer should eye if they want to risk inability to conception the product in their DVD player or they should wait for the manufacturer notification that they have fixed the compatibilty plight.
